Getting to Zakopane
Flying in
If you are one of our international guests and are flying in these are the options that will work best:
Kraków Balice
This is the nearest airport to Zakopane, from there you can catch a train or cab to the Kraków Central Train Station, and transfer onto a bus or train to Zakopane. Approximate total travel time 1,5-2hrs.
Warsaw Airport
Poland’s main airport with the most options available. From there you can catch a train or cab to Warsaw Central Train Station and transfer onto a train. Approximate total travel time 5hrs
Katowice Airport
Katowice is also a nearby city, however unless you rent a car this transfer will be the most complicated. From the airport grab a cab to Katowice central station, then hop onto a train to Kraków, and transfer to a train to Zakopane. Approximate travel time 4hrs
By train
Since Zakopane is a touristic destination it is well connected by train from the main cities around Poland.
From Warsaw travel time is between 4,5 - 5,5 hrs.
From Kraków travel time is around 2 hrs.

Once you get to Zakopane you can move around using local taxis, public transport or use scooters.
By car
This is the easiest way to get to and around Zakopane. Roads in the summer are usually safe, although some roads are gently winding. Just follow google maps, watch out for speedometers on Zakopianka and arrive safely.
Parking around Zakopane is either paid in the parking meters (by the hour) or to private owners (flat fee). In some areas, usually around hotels, or further from the city center it remains free.
This is the recommended form of transport for Zakopane, especially if you would like to sightsee.

Zakopane is Tomek’s hometown, so we will be there the week leading up to the wedding and the one after. We will most likely go on some hikes, organise a bonfire, ride bikes, play boardgames and do a bunch of other things I can’t think of right now.
